Gas plant near Grovedale opens ahead of schedule

SemCAMS says a new gas plant near Grovedale is now fully operational.
 
The Wapiti Gas Plant started processing and shipping sour gas January 27.
 
The company says in a release that the project came in on budget and ahead of schedule. April 1 had been the predicted opening date.
 
It will process 200-million cubic feet of gas per day. All but five per cent of that capacity has been contracted.
 
SemCAMS announced in December it had also received regulatory approval to build another sour gas plant in the Pipestone area near Wembley.
 
It would have a capacity of 280 million cubic feet per day.
