Former Grande Prairie resident identified as a victim of train derailment
A former Grande Prairie resident has been identified as one of the victims of the fatal train derailment near Field, BC on Monday.
Daniel Waldenberger-Bulmer was killed when a Canadian Pacific freight train began to move on its own, just as he and two other crew members had boarded the locomotive but were not ready to depart. The freight then gained excessive speed ahead of the tight turns in the mountain pass, resulting in 99 cars and two locomotives derailing at a curve ahead of a bridge.
Dylan Paradis and Andrew Dockrell also lost their lives in the accident.
Waldenberger-Bulmer, 26, was born and raised in Grande Prairie, and also lived in Wembley as a child. He is a graduate of Grande Prairie Composite High School.
