Spirit Seekers Youth Conference begins Friday

Mar 15, 2018 | 10:28 AM

The 19th annual Spirit Seekers Youth Conference gets underway Friday in Grande Prairie.

Spokesperson Delaine Lambert English says the goal is to inspire youth, both indigenous and non-indigenous.

“Another goal of the conference is to give youth the opportunity network, be proud of who they are.”

She says among the events there will be one involving Walking with our Sisters. “Two of the lead beaders are going to be organizing an art workshop where they can make different forms of art, I think there is beading and painting on a canvas so these will make the memorial art piece that will be on display during Walking with our Sisters in June.”

Registration is closed for the conference but there are a few events open to the public starting with a Pipe Ceremony at 3:30 p.m., stew/bannock at 5 p.m. with a Round Dance to follow.

Lambert English says 340 youth from in and around Grande Prairie are registered to attend.
