Fairview co-workers win $1 million MAXMILLIONS prize

Jun 26, 2018 | 3:52 PM

Brian Relland and 23 of his co-workers are splitting $1 million after winning the MAXMILLIONS prize on the May 25 LOTTO MAX draw.

Relland broke the news to his colleagues the day after.

“Everyone thought I was joking at first,” said Relland. “Most of the responses I got back were along the lines of, ‘Right, Brian.’ ‘Sure, Brian.’ If they didn’t believe me before they do now. It’s really great for our group.”

The winning group includes Fairview residents Relland, Dietmar Sohlback, Bruce Knopf, Jay Fox, Jeff Dyer, Troy Richardson, Kevin Peppler, Jayden Nagy-Kolodychuk, Dean Verbicky, Billy Bowness, Len Watchorn, Rick Venn, Josh Anderson, Joe Little, Lance MacDaid, Tom Bondaruk, Steve Dionne, Shawn Forsyth and Dwayne Adams.

Rounding out the group are Ken McKenzie and Dwayne Pederson of Brownvale, Kane Richardson of Hines Creek, Don Jaeger of Manning, and Cam Lizee of Grande Prairie.

They will each receive roughly $41,667.

“Most people are going to put their winnings in savings,” added Relland. “Some of us are going to pay some bills, others are going to put away for their kids’ education. One of the guys just retired, so it was a great parting gift for him!”

Relland redeemed the group’s free ticket at the Esso in Fairview.
