Local hockey bench boss Kevin Kuryluk is the 2018 recipient of the Clairmont Volunteer of the Year Award. The award is presented to a nominated individual that has demonstrated dedication and excellence in volunteerism in the community.

Kuryluk was presented the award by County of Grande Prairie Councillor Daryl Beeston and Family and Community Support Services Community Program Coordinator Georgia Iliou.

“Through the great work of volunteers in our communities, we’re creating future leaders. Kevin, and other volunteers who tirelessly give back, act as role models for local youth,” added Beeston.

In his second year of involvement with Clairmont Minor Hockey, Kuryluk is the head coach of the Atom team, assistant coach of the Initiation team, and technical director on the Board of Directors. He aims to create a positive environment for local youth to participate in sports.

“Providing kids with a place to go and things to do builds stronger communities overall. The physical aspect, sense of community and team building that comes with hockey, and sports in general, is incredibly valuable for young people,” said Kuryluk.
