Basement fire in Copperwood

The Grande Prairie Fire Department was called to an early morning fire Monday.

Just after 1:30 a.m. crews were called to Copperwood to reports of a basement fire.

The people inside were woken by the smoke alarm.  They called for help and got out safely. 

Firefighters ensured the fire didn’t spread by checking the walls, floor and roof and it was fully out an hour later.

There is no damage estimate or cause identified.
