Agri-Show exhibit space sellout shows strength in local agriculture says President

The 33rd edition of the Peace Country Classic Agri-Show gets going today at Evergreen Park.

It was another quick sell-out for exhibitor space for this year’s edition.

President Sonja Raven says this is a sign that the agriculture business is still strong, especially in this area.

“There’s definitely value for the vendors to come up and spend time in our area and work with our farmers. It’s nice to see that and it’s nice to see that there’s still an interest for an ag. show of this nature.”

She adds the board decided to stay with what they have been doing well for this year’s show.

“We really wanted to focus on the kids again, so at 11 o’clock on Saturday, Michener Allen will be training auctioneers again. Then, at 1 o’clock on Saturday as well, in exchange for food bank items you take to the ATB booth, the kids can bid on items up for auction (in) the ENTREC Centre.”

The trade show, bull sale, and horse program as all back this year. There is also a petting zoo, 4-H shows, and craft displays and sales.

Raven is glad to have the show on at the same time as the Mighty Peace Teachers Convention.

“It’s really, really good for bridging that urban-rural interface. We get people that might not know as much about agriculture, but you get the kids going through the show and they’re, of course, interested in a lot of the equipment. It’s really nice because it gives us a chance to maybe reach other people that we may not normally.”

It will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and tomorrow, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. There is no charge to get in.
