Jan 9, 2018 | 12:33 PM

Single-family home starts went up in both the City and County of Grande Prairie in 2017.

Canada Mortgage and Housing says the number of new homes started in the city last year jumped to 146 from 108 in 2016.

In the County, single-family home starts went from 126 to 175.

A drop in multi-unit construction led to lower total start numbers for both municipalities.

Those units dropped from 126 to 48 in the City and from 94 to 356 in the County.

Total starts in the city came in at 194, down 40 from 234 the previous year. In the County, total starts were at 211, nine fewer than the in 2016.
