Part of the Peace Region under a severe thunderstorm watch

Those who have plans to be outside today will want to pay attention to the sky.

There is a severe thunderstorm watch in effect for the Peace River, Fairview, Manning, and High Prairie area. There is also a watch in place for Slave Lake, Peerless Lake, Gift Lake and Cadotte Lake.

The thunderstorms will be slow moving and could produce heavy downpours of up 50 mm in under an hour. Small hail and heavy winds are also a possibility.

Fort Vermillion and High Level are also included in the thunderstorm watch, as well as a heat warning, which is expected to end on Saturday.
