County set to hammer out interim budget

Dec 3, 2017 | 6:30 AM

Three days of budget talks start tomorrow for County of Grande Prairie Council.

CAO Bill Rogan says 2018 is shaping up to be a tough year.

“We started last fall when we did our plan we left off in a deficit position.  But we have experienced growth this year.  We have seen a small rebound in market values and we have been successful with a few grants.”

Rogan says there are no big projects planned for 2018.

“Like the Sportsplex was years ago or the Dino museum, but we do have a lot of smaller road construction projects that are high on our agenda to complete.

This will be an interim budget.

The final budget will be passed in the spring, once the County hears from the province about things such as linear taxes.
