On Sunday, March 4th at 4:45 p.m., Fort St.John RCMP and Emergency Services Personnel responded to a report of a head-on collision at the top of the South Taylor Hill on Highway 97 near Taylor B.C.

A Western Star commercial vehicle was southbound on Highway 97 when the pickup truck, travelling North, crossed the centre line and into the path of a semi.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 29-year-old man from Grande Prairie Alberta was pronounced dead at the scene.

As a result of the crash, the highway was closed for a period of time but has since reopened.

The RCMP and B.C. Coroners are investigating, but it is suspected distracted driving may have played a role in the crash.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash and have not spoken to police are asked to contact the Dawson Creek RCMP or Crimestoppers.
