Odyssey House offering Domestic Violence in the Workplace training

Mar 5, 2018 | 5:48 AM

Staff from Odyssey House are back from a Domestic Violence in the Workplace training session and will now be offering the training in Grande Prairie.

Executive Director Ebony Rempel says new legislation in Bill 30 means companies will be creating a policy or procedure when it comes to employees who are the victims of domestic violence.

“So, if a worker discloses domestic violence, what that looks like and how you deal with that and perhaps have a team of people at the organization that are better able to support it and work with that person properly.”

She says they will be able to provide the program mid-March and will be free for the first five companies to sign up.

“People are really curious what this would look like and recognizing with that new legislation that came down January 1st this year, people are looking for solutions and ways in which they can make sure that they have those proper policies and procedures in place.”

Changes were made to Bill 30, An Act to Protect the Health and Well-being of Working Albertans.
