Travel not advised in the County

Mar 2, 2018 | 11:18 AM

We remain under a Winter Storm Warning and the County of Grande Prairie is cautioning motorists that travel is not recommended at this time.

Heavy snowfall and gusting winds have left a number of County roads in poor condition or blocked.

Travel is not advised at this time, but if you must drive somewhere, please ensure you are prepared.  Make sure your cell phone battery is charged and that you have an emergency roadside kit in your vehicle.

The County has called in extra help to clear the roads as quickly as possible. All primary and secondary highways are maintained by Alberta Transportation.

The Winter Storm Warning was issued by Environment Canada Wednesday afternoon. It called for 20-25 cm of snow by Saturday morning.

The weather agency says hazardous winter conditions are expected until winds are expected to diminish this evening and the heavy snowfall end overnight.
