UPDATE: Wildfire burning southwest of Musreau Lake is being held
UPDATE June 21st: According to Alberta Wildfire, the blaze is now listed as held.
UPDATE June 20th 8:15 pm: Water bombers have finished skimming the lake.
3:46 pm: Fire crews are battling an out of control wildfire about 6 km west of Musreau Lake.
Wildfire Information Officer Kelly Burke says the fire is moving really quickly and they’re working hard to knock it down.
Water bombers are coming in from Slave Lake and they’ll be skimming off Musreau Lake. She says people will need to stay 30 metres back from the shore while this is being done.
They were first notified of the fire at 1 p.m. today and it’s currently about 8 hectares.
There were no evacuations orders as of 3:40 p.m. Wednesday and Burke says the fire is currently burning away from Highway 40.
