Man saved from burning house west of Sexsmith
County fire crews were able to free a man from a burning building early this morning.
Sexsmith and Clairmont crews were dispatched to the home just west of Sexsmith on Range Road 62 at around 5:05 a.m.
Fire Dispatch was able to advise the person trapped to close the door and stay by the window.
When firefighters arrived, they got the man down via a ladder and he was treated for minor smoke inhalation.
The fire was able to be put out and the cause is under investigation.
Crews learned that the man woke to the sound of the blaze as there were no working fire alarms in the home.
“Please ensure your fire alarms are tested monthly and change their batteries twice a year,” said acting Fire Chief Bart Johnson.
“This rescue was a great team effort with dispatch guiding the occupant to a place we could reach him.”
