New trial dates set in Grande Prairie murder case

Jun 11, 2018 | 4:54 PM

A new trial date has been set for Patrick Decque.

He is facing manslaughter and accessory to murder charges after the 2015 death of Adrian Snider. Snider was beaten to death after he was suspected of stealing from the drug and prostitution ring he worked for.

Decque’s trial has been set for November 12 to December 6, 2019.

Grande Prairie Court of Queen’s Bench heard Monday that Decque’s new lawyer is also involved in the current trial in Edmonton on the killings of two convenience store employees, which is part of the reason for the delay.

Court was also told by the Crown that Decque has changed lawyers “numerous times.” Decque was originally set to stand trial this month, but that was put off because of the changes in counsel. The two sides also agreed that there will not be a complaint of an unreasonable delay from the defence.

Decque’s brother Dominic and another man, Tommy Paul, have already pleaded guilty to manslaughter and are serving jail time.

Courtney McQuinn, who has been charged with accessory to murder, is to have a preliminary hearing in August.
