Kjemhus set for first full season in WHL

The Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League are hoping for a bounce-back season in 2018-2019 and a Grande Prairie product is looking to be a major part of the turnaround.

Kjell Kjemhus is set to play his first full season in the WHL this year, despite getting into a number of games in 2017-2018.

The Grande Prairie product was in the lineup for the Regina Pats for three games last year but was then traded to the Prince George Cougars as part of the package sent to Prince George for the rights to Jesse Gabrielle.

After the deal, Kjemhus became a mainstay in the line-up for the Cougars, playing in 25 games where he recorded two goals and two assists.

The Cougars finished last in the Western Conference last season with a 24-38-5-5 record.

Prince George will begin the season on the road Friday in Victoria against the Royals as Kjemhus faces another Peace Region product.

Ralph Jarrett is entering his 20-year-old campaign with the Royals and is set to log plenty of minutes on the blue-line for Victoria.

The veteran blue-liner had two goals and 13 assists in 52 games last season.
