Rodney “Rody” Herbert Aasen, resident of Clairmont, AB, lost his battle with cancer on Sunday, March 21, 2021, at the age of 58 years.
Rody was born on July 28, 1962, in Melfort, SK, the fourth son of Ken and Erva Aasen. The family moved to Clairmont in 1972, when Rody was 10 years old. By the age of 18 he was fully immersed in the trucking industry in Northern Alberta. He spent the majority of his life on the road, starting his career and spending many years at Twilight Oilfield. He hauled heavy equipment and rigs from one end of Canada to the other. Rody was known to be a great operator, being one of few who could both haul and operate the commander.
During his time off, Rody enjoyed skidooing and quadding. He loved taking the kids for a ride and making the girls shriek after promising to “go slow” and then surprising them with some crazy maneuver. Later on, Rody loved taking his grandson out on the machines as well. He enjoyed a cold beer and having a good time with friends.
Rody will be sadly missed by his mother Erva; brothers Jim and Bob; sisters Karla and Shelley (Loren); children Richard (Kelly) and Katie (Jessie); grandchildren: Emerson, Titus, Tanis, and Jordie; nieces Nicky (Ryon) and Cassie (Cody); great-nieces Kenedy and Frankie; great-nephew Pacen.
He was predeceased by his father Kenneth Aasen and brother John Aasen.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
