April 30, 1919 – October 29, 2021

Anne Clara Cissell passed away at the Grande Prairie Care Centre on October 29th, 2021 at the age of 102.

She was easy going, caring and devoted to her family and faith in Jehovah.  She was born to Oscar and Siri Skoglund who came to Canada from Sweden, and settled in the Winfield, Alberta area.  She was sister to Maude, Gertrude, Signe and John.  All were born in the log house built by their father.

She married Joseph Leo Cissell on November 6th, 1941 and after many lumber camp moves throughout central and northern Alberta, settled on a farm they bought in Wenham Valley. It was the life she loved, tending to her animals, her garden, picking berries, and looking after their three children Doreen, Elaine and Ken.

Leo’s work brought them to Grande Prairie, Alberta in 1958 where she made many dear friends. Later when her aging parents needed help, her caring compassionate nature prompted a move to Rimbey, Alberta. After the death of her parents and husband of 46 years, she left her friends and loving support system there, to return to Grande Prairie to be near her son Ken and live with her daughter Elaine.

Her home was always open to visitors to enjoy a meal or stay over. She loved to read the bible, talk about it, and lived by what it taught her. There was always time for a cup of coffee, a crossword puzzle, jig saw puzzle, or a game of scrabble with family and friends.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Doreen (Larry) Balderston,   Elaine (George) Billey and Ken (Rennie) Cissell.

Grandchildren, Jim (Shelly) Balderston, Allan (Kelly) Balderston and Alzena Billey.

Great-grandchildren, Jennifer (Tristan) Wall, Brian Balderston, Daniel Balderston and Michelle Balderston.

Great great-grandchild Theo Wall, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at Heritage Lodge and GPCC for their exceptional compassionate care Anne received over the years.
