October 24, 1960 – May 18, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that the Bochon family share the news of the passing of Boris Brent Eugene Bochon on May 18, 2025.
Brent was born in Edmonton on October 24, 1960, to proud parents Elizabeth and Eugene Bochon. He was the eldest of 4 children. Brent graduated high school in 1978 and went on to complete his Forestry Technology Diploma in 1980, where he started his lifelong dream of becoming a forest ranger. His career began in Hinton and later took him to Fort Vermillion where he met the love of his life, Annie, in 1982. They married in 1984 and welcomed their son, Daniel in 1985. Their journey with forestry continued to Grovedale and the Grande Prairie area where they were blessed with daughters, Kimberley and Leslie. Brent continued working for the Alberta Government in numerous roles until his retirement in 2020. He was an active participant in AUPE events and a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Along with raising his own family, Brent had a number of ‘quasi children and grandchildren’ as he so lovingly referred to and loved as his own. This also gave him his first title of Grandpa Bochon in 2008. Once retired, Brent got to experience the additional joys of becoming “Big Papa” as he was coined by his grandson Tristan who was born in 2021, followed by his grandson Carter born in 2023. Family meant everything to him – whether blood or not.
Brent will be remembered for creating a warm and welcoming home for all, for being Mr. Fix It, and his excitement of telling stories – whether about his forestry days, garage sale finds or treasured moments with family and friends. Known for the twinkle in his eye, his love of hosting, his excitement for a good storm and the laugh he got from pulling off a good prank or two, Brent always made sure everyone was taken care of. The world has truly lost a great man.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Annie; children, Daniel, Kim, and Leslie (James); grandchildren, Tristan and Carter; his mother, Elizabeth; siblings, Barry, Barb (Bob) and Brad; his quasi children and grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends, whom he loved so much.
Brent was predeceased by his father, Eugene.
A funeral service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 2pm, with reception to follow at Elks Hall. The service and reception will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.
In lieu of flowers, please made donations in memory of Brent Bochon directly to the Canadian Cancer Society.
