It is with great sadness that the family of Bernadine Bromley, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, announce her passing on Friday, March 26, 2021, at the QEII Hospital, at the age of 60 years.
Bernadine was born on May 20, 1960, in St. Anthony, NL, and spent her early years on Fishot Island, later moving to Goose Cove, NL. Bernadine left school to become employed at the FPI Fish Plant in St. Anthony, where she worked until the Cod Moratorium in 1992. She then completed her education and spent many years working at St. Anthony Seafoods in the shrimp processing plant until she moved to Grande Prairie in 2014.
Bernadine was an avid dart player over the years and made many friends throughout Newfoundland while competing in the All Newfoundland “A” Ladies tournaments, achieving many awards. Bernadine was a high-spirited, fun-loving character who could brighten anyone’s day with her smile and humour. She possessed unlimited kindness, generosity, and compassion for everyone, whether they were close friends or complete strangers.
After coming to Grande Prairie, she took a housekeeping position at the Stonebridge Hotel until her recent illness. She was very much loved and respected by her employers, co-workers and guests for her work, kindness, and her quick sense of humour. After meeting her soulmate in 2016, she enjoyed travelling around Alberta, visiting family and friends, as well as camping with her family.
Bernadine will be sadly missed by her significant other Keith Ryan; children: Cory (Susan) Bromley, Lorna (Dion) Sexton and step-daughter Tiffany Ryan (Robert White); grandchildren: Mark Bromley and Hunter White; parents Edward and Ann Bromley; brothers Sean (Regina) and Eugene; sisters: Adell (Lorne) Carter, Michelle (John) Williams, and Mary (Leonard); along with many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and a very wide circle of family and friends.
She was predeceased by her grandparents: Peter and Adell Casey, and Mary Jo and Maurice Bromley; as well as her special angel, granddaughter Emily Bromley.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at 3:30pm at Oliver’s Funeral Home. A Livestream will be available to view on her obituary page on the Oliver’s Funeral Home website.
