Bruyere, Lionel

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lionel Bruyere on Monday, March 11, 2019, at the age of 80 years.
Lionel was born on July 13, 1938 in Girouxville, AB and was the ninth of 16 children born to Lucien and Cecile Bruyere. He lived in the Peace Country his whole life. For most of his life he worked as a labourer, from working on the rail road to building 214 Place.
After his wife passed in 1994, he retired and took up photography. He loved taking pictures of the country side as well as family and friends. He was also a good baker and loved to bake goods for family and for coffee time at his senior apartment, where he was very active with day to day events like cards, bingo, and arranging the senior transport bus for residents.
Lionel will be greatly missed by his two sons Martin and Darien (Dawn); daughter Laura; grandchildren: Christefur, Randy Brandan, Jessica, Kayla, Taylor, and Alexander; great-grandchildren: Wren, Oliver, and Xyla; brothers Victor and Amy; sisters Mary-Paile, Jeanne, Claire, Denise, and Cecile; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Sharon Bruyere.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019, at 11:00am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grande Prairie (10404 102 St.).
