It is with great sadness that the family of Dr. Sam Dube MD announce his passing on October 8, 2020.
Born March 1, 1939 in Gorakhpur India, Sam was the second youngest of nine children. At a young age he set his ambition towards a medical profession and duly graduated from the National Medical School of Calcutta, successfully obtaining residency in London, England.
In 1971 Sam married Pushpa Dube and they chose to raise their family in Canada. Sam worked at the University of Alberta hospital (1971-1977). Sam then joined the Prairie Medical practice in Grande Prairie. Here he proudly served the community for 40 years until his retirement in 2017.
Sam is lovingly remembered as a man with compassion and kindness to the core of his being. He profoundly touched the lives of so many. A deeply spiritual man, Sam drew from all faiths for guidance and wisdom. His considerable capacity and accomplishments were always maintained with distinguished humility. Above all, Dr. Sam Dube treasured his family.
Sam Dube is survived by his wife, Mrs. Puspha Dube, his children; Dr. Ajeet Dube, Dr Alok Dube, Mrs Nina Barrett and five grandchildren; his brothers Mr Indra Dube, Mr Vishnu Dube and sister Mrs Saraswati Tripathi.
He was predeceased by his parents Pandit Harihar Prasad Dube and Savitri Dube, brothers Dr Bhagwan Prasad Dube, Mr Krishna Deo Dube, and sisters Mrs Susila Dubey, Mrs Shanti Tewari and Mrs Sharda Mani Tripathi.
A Celebration of Life for Dr. Sam Dube will be held on Friday October 16, at 9am at Bear Creek Funeral Home, 11802 99 Ave, Grande Prairie.
