Arthur W. Duda, resident of Fourth Creek, AB, formerly of Emerson Trail and Sexsmith, AB, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in Fourth Creek, at the age of 77 years.
Art was born September 12, 1941 at Johanna’s in Sexsmith, AB. He was raised on a farm on the Emerson Trail and attended school at Canuck near Bear Lake, AB.
All his life, Art was a farmer and trucker. He hauled fuel up the Alaska Highway, He also hauled feed, water, grain, gravel, and logs; you name it, Art hauled it!
He was a good man. If you met him, you liked him immediately. He was honest and true. When Art went into a place, he would be hollering, and laughing; everyone loved to see him come.
He really enjoyed his cows. They brought out the best and the worst in us. We had fun! He loved to go fishing and to attend family gatherings. He liked to hunt and was an avid shot and had great hunting skills. As he got older, his hunting slowed down. He said the “animals have enough to contend with”, and hung up his gun.
Art will be sadly missed by his wife Yvonne Duda; son Jamey (Tami) Duda; as well as everyone who knew him.
He was predeceased by his daughter Orillee, his parents, and his sister Julia Norish.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 1:00pm, at the Sexsmith Civic Centre (99 Ave.). Interment to follow at Emerson Trail Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to AHS – Central Peace Health Complex – LTC (PO Box 339, Spirit River, AB, T0H 3G0) or to Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue Association (8618 91 St., Grande Prairie, AB, T8X 1V6).
