The family of Sherman Durda is deeply saddened to announce his passing on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at his home at Manoir du Lac residence in McLennan, AB, at the age of 70 years. He previously lived on a farm near Rycroft and later in Spirit River.
Sherman was born July 20, 1948 in Spirit River, AB. He will be remembered for always being happy and upbeat with a constant smile on his face. Throughout the years, he enjoyed trapping, quading, gardening, horses, westerns, the Montreal Canadiens, and his family. He especially loved visiting with people and telling stories.
He leaves to mourn his brother Herb (Dianne) and children: Teri, Darci (Darcy) Romanuik, and Brandi; brother Gil and children: Aaron (Antoinette), and Melanie (Cam) Dickson; sister Sharon (David) Fustukian and children: Daria and Sarya; sister Cynthia (Mac) Watson and children: Jade and Shilo; sister Marian Holscher and her children: Nathan (Andrea), Taylor (Wendy); brother Don (Maureen) and son Stewart; sister Debi (Darcy) Listhaeghe and children: Kourtni, Britni (Derek), Myette, and Darbi; as well as 14 great-nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his parents Vincent and Audrey Durda, brother Stewart, sister Margaret Nickel, sister in-law Trudy Durda, and brother in-law Peter Holscher.
Sherman’s ashes will be laid to rest with his parents at the Grande Prairie Cemetery at a Private Family Interment.
The family would like to send our sincerest, heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Manior du Lac for always treating him as family and providing compassionate and loving care to him.
