It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Erma Ederle, peacefully at home, on Saturday, April 11, 2020, in Edmonton, AB with her loving family by her side. After winning a challenging battle with cancer, Erma succumbed to her final struggle with dementia.
Born May 6, 1941 in Sexsmith, AB, Erma grew up on the Moller homestead. She had a special love for horses and all animals, she was really a farm girl at heart. She had fun playing pranks on her siblings.
Erma graduated from college with a business diploma and went on to pursue a profession as a Dental Assistant, she then met the love of her life and best friend, Tom Ederle. They were married July 1, 1961 and 50 years later they celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary with the renewal of their vows.
Erma loved to spend time with family and friends. She enjoyed holidaying, camping, ballroom dancing, and music. Her smile would light up the entire room.
She had a kindness for everyone and a heart of gold but, her most outstanding love was being there for her family.
Her life was a living example of the following Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 –“And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Erma is survived by her loving family: her husband, Tom Ederle,of 59 years, her daughters, Susan Campeau (Pat) and Daphney Ederle (Jason Kuchera), her only grandson, Nicholas Campeau and her siblings: Marlyss Paszkowski (Walter), Alice Elverum, and Franklin Moller (Belinda Ward), all of whom brought great joy to her throughout her life. She was predeceased by her parents, Pearl and Ingvald Moller and brother-in-law Vic Elverum.
Erma will be greatly missed and leaves us all with heavy hearts as we say goodbye. Our world will never be the same without her. We cherish the memories.
“Mom, although your presence will be missed, we know you are near and we will see you again.”
A Memorial Service for Erma Ederle will be held in Edmonton at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
A special thank you to the AB Homecare care givers for their kindness and compassion shown to Erma.
