With heavy hearts we mournfully announce the passing of Edward Charles Ferguson. Born on July 15, 1954, Edward passed away on May 23, 2021 in Grande Prairie, Alberta at the age of 66.
Edward, nicknamed “Joker”, was a funny, outgoing, and determined man who kept his family and especially his grandchildren at the center of his world. He was involved in many community programs throughout his life including serving as a board member and a part of the presidency at the Grande Prairie Friendship Centre for many years. Edward was also recognized as an Indigenous Storyteller with the Grande Prairie Heritage Museum and with many local schools.
Edward’s faith was a large part of his life and he was transformed when he found the Lord. He served as a local minister and pastor for over 30 years, dedicating his time and effort to reach out to people and help those in need.
He loved to hunt, fish, play pool with the local seniors, play guitar, sing gospel music, and at family gatherings he always had a way of making everyone laugh. Edward was a giving and caring husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, and a great friend.
He will be deeply missed.
Edward is survived by his wife Margaret; his son Kenneth and granddaughter Naomi; his son Ricky; his daughter Marlene and grandchildren Dave, Naiomi, and Josh; his daughter Agnes and grandchildren Jen, Celine, Cory, and Ashten; his daughter Donna (Art) and grandchildren James and April; his daughter Violet and grandchildren Chris, Mathew, Kristen, and Kristal; his daughter Brittany and grandchildren Tanisha, Ava, Page, Brooklyn, Kingsley, Bryson, Amaira, and Aislyn, his daughter Brenda and grandchildren Nicole and Shawn; his brothers Leo (Alma), Donald, Rodrick, and Hubert (Doris); his sister Louise; as well as many great-grandchildren that he deeply loved and cherished, nephews, nieces, and extended family.
He was predeceased by his grandson Nathaniel “Nate”, and his great-grandson Kayden.
A viewing will take place on Monday, May 31, 2021 from 7-9pm at Bear Creek Funeral Home (11802 99 Avenue, Grande Prairie). Please call 780-830-7742 to reserve a time slot.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 12:00pm at Bear Creek Funeral Home. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, attendance is limited to invitation only. For those unable to attend, a livestream of the service will be available on Bear Creek Funeral Home’s YouTube channel.
