Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Arnason, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Rainbow Lake, AB, Calgary, AB, and Grand Bay, NB, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2026, at Prairie Lake Seniors Community at the age of 81 years.
Liz was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, on September 8, 1944. In 1945, she immigrated to Canada and spent her growing-up years in Grand Bay, NB. Liz attended school to become a nurse and at a missionary hospital in Eriksdale, MB, met Dad and married him on May 5, 1967. In 1968, they moved to Alberta, settling in Calgary. That is where they raised their family and eventually bought a flower shop. In 1991, they moved to Rainbow Lake and in 2007 retired to Grande Prairie. In 2025, they made their new home at Prairie Lake Seniors Community.
Liz loved everyone. She especially adored being surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Some of her hobbies included crafting, golfing, curling, camping, and playing bingo. Travelling was another passion of hers. She enjoyed going on cruises and visiting places all over the world. Her favorite “home away from home” was Nuevo Vallarta with her friends and family.
Liz will be sadly missed by her husband, Ronald Arnason; her children, Rhonda Drover (Kelly), Larry Arnason (Kristen), Terri Eriksen (Robbie), and Zoey Eriksen; her grandchildren, Brent, Kelsie (and Kelsie’s family), Jessica, Kathleen (Matt), Katrina (Mason), and Kassandra; and her great-grandchildren, Logan, Aurora, Ryder, and Kenryk; as well as her many other friends and family members.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Ann Lawson; her in-laws, Steve and Lara Arnason; her sister, Helen Crandall; brother-in-law Loyd “Bud” Crandall; brother-in-law Paul “Pat” Petryshen; sister-in-law Patricia Tanchak; brother-in-law Ralph Tanchak; brother-in-law Richard Arnason; and her dear friends and travel companions, Tress and Monte Gregg.
The memorial service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005-107 Ave), preceded by a viewing at 1:00 p.m. Following the service, friends are invited to join the family for a luncheon in Oliver’s Tea Room.
