It is with heavy hearts, we mournfully announce the passing of Elva Jean Semack,73, of Sexsmith Alberta. She passed away unexpectantly on January 9, 2022, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital.
Elva was born in Beaverlodge Alberta on December 19, 1948, to Clarence and Margaret Wenzel. Elva was raised on a farm near Beaverlodge. She had a daughter in 1969, and sons in 1973 and 1977.
Elva met Leonard in early 1982, and they married on October 29 of that year. In spring of 1983, the couple moved to Leonard’s farm near Sexsmith Alberta. In September of that year, they welcomed their first child together, a son. In 1985 they welcomed a daughter.
Elva worked at The Central Park Lodge and then the QEII Hospital in Grande Prairie for a few years before deciding to stay home and raise the kids, help out on the farm, and do what she loved the most- work on her beautiful yard and flower gardens. Elva also loved camping with family and friends. She loved her grandkids, and always spent as much time with them as she could.
Elva will be sadly missed by her husband Leonard; daughters Rhonda and Kim (Chris); sons Ronnie, Kelly and Bob; grandchildren Michelle, Michael, Jason, Kiesha, Tyson, Levi, Jesse, Quinton, Leland, Blake and Paisley; her younger brother Alan (Sherri); sisters-in-law Faye, Liz, Irene and Sue; brother-in-law Tony; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many neighbors and friends whom she loved so dearly.
Elva was predeceased by her parents Clarence and Margaret Wenzel; brother Lloyd Wenzel; sister Margaret Bjork and infant sister Geniece Wenzel; Father and mother-in-law William and Jean Semack; brother and sister-in-law John and Faye Semack; brother and sister-in-law Ed and Lou Semack; and brother-in-law John Cuira.
A gathering of friends in honour of Elva will be held at a later date.
Family would like to especially thank the amazing staff and doctor in the ICU at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital who cared for Elva during her stay, she was treated with such care and talked very highly of all the staff that cared for her.
