Ray Curtis Bryan Grimm, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Rycroft, AB, passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022, in Grande Prairie, at the age of 71 years.
Ray was born on November 11, 1950, to Edith and Ora Grimm of Rycroft. Ray met his wife Kathy while they were both attending Fairview College. He was very athletic and played hockey, basketball, and volleyball. He was recognized for these athletic abilities during this time. After college and throughout the years he also enjoyed curling and golf as well, and so did his wife Kathy.
Ray loved a good joke, he loved to hunt and fish and BS with friends, and when he could do both, it was a good time for him. We loved to go camping as a family and many family vacations were spent this way. Over the years he went on many hunting and fishing adventures with good friends.
Ray took over the family farm in 1971, and farmed the same land that his father Ora did. Much of the land was on the original Rycroft settlement before the town moved and he liked to show us the well that still stands there today.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Kathy; children: Tracy (Damian) Maguire, Lori (Jeff) Burlo, and son Ryan; grandchildren: Reece (Mariska), Tessa, Landon, Aimee, Eoin, and Noah; great-grandchildren: Nikita, Boaden, Traz, and Krystelle; as well as many friends and relatives.
He was predeceased by his parents Edith and Ora; his sisters Norma Grimm and Elnor Hanson; as well as his grandparents Ethel and Dan Vader, and Lorenzo and Mary Grimm.
The family would like to thank Dr. James Pope, the Grande Prairie Cancer Clinic, and ICU team at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital for their care and compassion and helping us through this terrible time.
A small Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 11:15am for friends and family, at the MD of Spirit River Community Cemetery (SL 41-78-5-W6M Golf Course Rd). A luncheon will follow at the Spirit River United Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation – White Rose Program (https://shop.gphospitalfoundation.ca/products/white-rose-program), or to the Alberta Cancer Foundation (710 10123 99 St. NW, Edmonton, AB, T5J 3H1).
