Jennifer Henson, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at the QEII Hospital after a courageous battle with a number of medical ailments at the age of 42 years.
Jenn was born on March 17, 1978, in Edmonton, the second of four children to Don and Margaret Spracklin. At the age of two, Jenn and her family moved to Fort McMurray, where she attended school and graduated from Father Patrick Mercredi High School in 1997. She then moved to Edmonton to attend Norquest College, graduating from the LPN program. She moved back to Fort McMurray, where she met and married her soul mate Jeff Henson in July of 2004. They moved to Edmonton in 2006 before moving to Grande Prairie in 2007.
Jenn worked as an Educational Assistant, first with the Fort McMurray Catholic School Division and then with the Grande Prairie Catholic and Public School Districts – specializing in working with children with medical needs. Jenn’s personality had her loved not only by her students but also the teachers and other educational assistants that she worked with.
Jenn had a kind, loving, caring, and bubbly personality that was loved by her many friends. She was loyal to everyone who knew her and would help anyone who needed help, always placing others ahead of herself. Anyone who knew Jenn fondly
remembers a smile that would light up a room, her infectious laugh, her warm hugs, her love of McDonald’s Diet Coke, and how she would often start text messages with “Hi friend”! She lived her life to the three simple words in her favourite phrase, “Live, Laugh, Love”.
Jenn will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by her loving husband Jeff; her children Brittany and Nicholas; step-daughter Zoe; brother Jason (Brandee) of Sherwood Park, AB; brother Justin of St. Albert, AB; and sister Jodi (Kevin) Dolan of Fort Saskatchewan, AB; mother in-law Rosanne Henson (Don Flanigan) of Dauphin, MB; father in-law Herb Henson (Lynne) of Winnipeg, MB; sisters in-law Sheila (Mike) Lamirande of Winnipeg, Jacinta King (Rene Bisson) of Winnipeg, and Erica (Curtis) Schmidt of Winnipeg; brother in-law Craig Flanigan (Kat) of Devon, AB; nieces and nephews: Logan, Wyatt, Lucas, Kirsten, Paige, Hailee, Whitnee, Jensen, Jacsyn, Michael, Shay and Kellen; special family friends Deb and Derek Barlund and their children Kyle and Shay of Grovedale, AB, and Paul and Laurie Hansen of Edmonton, AB; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Don and Margaret Spracklin; infant sister Janna; aunt Pat Hayward; and her grandparents.
Jenn will be cremated, and a Memorial Service will be held in Grande Prairie at a later date once Alberta COVID-19 restrictions are lessened.
Memorial donations in memory of Jennifer may be made to the Diabetes Canada – Calgary (#220, 6223 2 St. SE, Calgary, AB, T2H 1J5), or the Kidney Foundation of Canada (202, 11227 Jasper Ave., Edmonton, AB, T5K 0L5).
If you get there before I do
Don’t give up on me.
I‘ll meet you when my chores are through,
I don’t know how long I will be.
But I’m not going to let you down,
Darling wait and see.
And between now and then,
until I see you again.
I’ll be loving you! Love, Me.
