November 21, 1923 – September 27, 2021

The children of Hilary Lightfoot are saddened to announce the passing of our Mother on September 27, 2021 at the age of 97 years.

Hilary was born in Birmingham, England in 1923 and immigrated to Canada as a war bride in 1945. She lived briefly in Grande Prairie and then moved to a farm in Blueberry Mountain.  She came from the second largest city in England and so there were a lot of adjustments.  No electricity, no running water and she never learned how to milk a cow—she drew the line at that!

After 23 years on the farm, Mom moved to Spirit River and worked as a dietician in the hospital and when she retired from there, she moved to Grande Prairie where she lived until her passing.

We truly feel blessed to have had her for so long.

Hilary is survived by her children; Joyce Berling, Bob Lightfoot, George Lightfoot (Louise), Cathy Berkmann (Hans), Bruce Lightfoot (Bonnie), 11 Grandchildren, 25 Great-Grandchildren, 16 Great-Great-Grandchildren as well as several Nieces and Nephews in England, Spain, United States and Wales.

She was pre-deceased by her Grandson and her Great-Grandson.

A private family funeral will be held for Hilary on Saturday October 2^nd, at 1pm at Bear Creek Funeral Home (11802 99 Avenue in Grande Prairie, Alberta).
