July 7, 1935 – April 26, 2022

 

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father John Matt Pilat at the age of 86 on April 26.

 

John was born in Glaslyn, Saskatchewan. John married the love of his life Marilyn in 1959 in Taber, Alberta. They were blessed with their first child Wanda in 1960. They then moved to northern B.C. where they were blessed with three more children, Shari, Steven, and Wade. They moved to Grande Prairie in 1976. John did many different types of jobs, but his passion was operating equipment. He loved spending time with his family and was an avid sports fan. He always made the time to support his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in anything they did. John was a kindhearted, loyal, and strong man. He survived cancer in 2015 after two major operations. He is now with his beloved wife and deceased members of his family.

 

He leaves behind his children, Wanda, Shari (Grant), Steven, and Wade (Dalene); five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; his brother George (Faye); his sister Diane (Pedro); his brother-in-law Richard (Montana); his sister-in-law Connie and numerous nephews and nieces.

 

A celebration of life will be held Saturday May 7 from 2pm to 6pm at the Clairmont Ag Community Hall.
