It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Uncle Allen Johnson of Grande Prairie, on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at the age of 90 years.
Allen was born in Northfield, AB on March 20, 1930, the youngest child of John G. and Gertrude Johnson.
While growing up, he enjoyed playing baseball, hunting and fishing, and in later years, curling. He had many occupations in his lifetime; from farmer to millwright, mechanic, grain hauler, and an all-around handy-man. Allen also spent about 18 years clearing and breaking land with his brother in-law Norman Wold and then with Stanley Sandboe.
He was a very gentle and kind man, never wanting to inconvenience anyone, but always ready to lend a helping hand. Even though he never had children of his own, he was very special to his nieces and nephews.
Allen will be sadly missed by his sister in-law Ina Johnson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents John G. and Gertrude Johnson; brothers Leonard and Gordon; sister Irene Wold; sister in-law Shirley Johnson; brother in-law Norman Wold; and nephews: Carey Johnson, Bert Delaney and Rod Neufeld.
There will be a Graveside Service held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church (Box 204 La Glace, AB, T0H 2J0) or Diabetes Canada (#220, 6223 2 St. SE, Calgary, AB, T2H 1J5).
