August 7, 1951 – January 29, 2021
With her husband by her side, Judy passed away on Friday January 29, 2021, at the QEII hospital in Grande Prairie Alberta. After a courageous battle with cancer, she is now at peace and will join her parents and departed siblings in heaven. She was 69 years old.
Judy was born in Spokane Washington and then the family moved to Colville Washington where she spent her childhood. A few years after her graduation she moved to Trail BC, where she was first married and raised her two sons. Judy found success over the years working as a receptionist for multiple dentist offices in Trail, B.C., during this time she found the love of her life (Jim), they had moved to Grande Prairie, Alberta to allow her husband to pursue his career.
Judy loved to sing, her beautiful voice could fill a room with joy and happiness, she was also a talented artist producing stunning paintings & scratch art that she so graciously shared with friends and family.
She was a beloved Nona & grandmother that was always with her grandchildren every chance she could get.
Judy is survived by her loving Husband Jim Penney, sons, Jim DeRosa and Jeff (Alisha) DeRosa; stepdaughters, Jaimie (Devon) Skjeie, Tara Penney; stepmother Reba Blake; her three sisters Joyce (Bruce) Oshita, Susan (Brian) Stotts and Connie Blake; 3 brothers Tim (Nancy) Blake, Tony (Cheryl) Blake and Bruce (Mary) Blake. Judy is also survived by and will always be fondly remembered by her many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
She was predeceased by her parents Don and Shirley as well as brothers Eric and Chris.
The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to all the Doctors and the dedicated nursing staff on 4S QE II in, Grande Prairie, AB. We would also like to thank the nurses and the staff of the Alberta Health Palliative Care, Home Care Divisions and White Rose program.
At Judy’s request, no service will be held.
