Ellen May Lewis, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at Prairie Lake Senior’s Community (formerly Points West Living), at the age of 79 years.

Ellen was born February 5, 1939 in Grande Prairie. She attended Kleskun Hill School and the Grande Prairie Dorm. At the age of 17, Ellen married Doug Lewis on December 7, 1956 and they raised 3 children: Cindy, Gary, and Brenda. Together Ellen and Doug ran a successful trucking business until 1987 when they sold the company and retired. They also sponsored a fastball team, “The Doug Lewis Bulldogs” for over 20 years, and were instrumental in the creation of the Dunes Golf and Winter Club.

Ellen dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Additionally, she loved her animals! She owned a dog, cats, horses, guinea hens, chinese ducks, peacocks, and miniature donkeys.

She will be sadly missed by her son Gary (Barb) Lewis and family; daughter Brenda (Doug) Hennigar and family; and son in-law Lloyd McKeeman and family.

She was predeceased by her husband Doug Lewis (2006) and daughter Cindy McKeeman (2017).

The family would like to thank Jeanette Ramos for her years of care and friendship and also the staff of Prairie Lakes Senior’s Community.

Interment of Ashes will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at 1:00pm at Grande Prairie Cemetery (84th Ave. & 112th St.).

A Celebration of Life will follow from 2:00-4:00pm, at The Dunes Golf and Winter Club in Grande Prairie (60042 TWP RD 704A).
