Margaret Lizotte, resident of Grande Prairie, passed away peacefully in her sleep at 2:30pm, on Friday, August 24, 2018, at Points West Living in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 99 years.
Margaret was the daughter of Louis Lambert and Sophie (nee Flett) of North Vermilion, AB. She was the 9th of 10 children, and is survived by only one of her siblings, Agnes Jane “AJ” Nancy Johnson of Edmonton, AB.
She is also survived by her only daughter Thelma (Hank) Scheunhage; four granddaughters: Dana (Richard) Lussier of Grande Prairie, Tara (Peter) Przbylski of Calgary, Lia (Kent) Morley of Calgary, and Janna-Jo (David) Phillips of Toronto, ON; and ten great-grandchildren: Gabrielle, Isabelle, and Racquel Lussier, Kyra, Lukasz, and Avery Przbylski, Carter and Emmett Morley, and Hewson and Archie Phillips, all of whom were Margaret’s pride and joy.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years Gordon Lizotte in 2004.
Margaret was a devoted wife and mother to Gordon and Thelma, both of which she loved deeply. Margaret and Gordon started their lives in Fort Vermilion, then moved on with Thelma to Peace River, and finally Grande Prairie. She was a faithful servant to everyone, not only to her immediate family, but to many other friends and families in the community. Her love of children was apparent to everyone around her, and as a result, she was a trusted babysitter for many families in both Peace River and Grande Prairie.
For us, she will be remembered as a generous and happy soul who befriended everyone she met. Her infectious smile and positive outlook were a constant in our lives that will be forever and deeply missed.
Prayers will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018, at 7:00pm, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
