Kara Ann MacLellan, a resident of Grande Prairie, passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at the Stollery Children’s Hospital at the age of 4 years. Kara was surrounded by her loving family during her final days.
Kara was born August 29, 2014 in Grande Prairie, AB. Her life was too short but for those who were touched by her, it was apparent that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which you live it. Kara’s boisterous, infectious giggle could brighten any day. Her quick wit and sharp sense of humour were developed far beyond her years.
Kara loved to tease and be teased and delighted in giving her uncles and grandparents a hard time. She loved to play outside with her sister and cousins and relished any opportunity to jump off high places and raid her Auntie Wendy’s candy drawer. Kara also loved tea parties, ice cream, and finding adventures in everyday life. She was a seasoned sous-chef and was often found in the kitchen mixing up ingredients.
Kara, although little, possessed strength and resilience that carried her family through many of her procedures and treatments. She was tough and determined and always found a reason to laugh and persevere. We are so proud of her and feel privileged to have been chosen to be her parents.
Kara will be lovingly remembered by her parents, Peter and Erin MacLellan, and by her sister Molly MacLellan. Kara will also be lovingly remembered by her grandparents: Arlene and Craig Charlesworth, Arlene MacLellan, Grant McNally, and Helen Minich; aunt and uncles: Ann and Colby Longmate, Rory McNally, and Peter McNally; cousin Ari Longmate; godparents Alice and Kelly MacLaughlin; along with many other loving extended family members and friends.
Kara was predeceased by her grandfather Donald MacLellan.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at 2:00pm, at Pomeroy Hotel and Conference Centre Grande Prairie (11633 100 St.).
Memorial Donations may be made to Kids with Cancer Society (11135 84 Ave., Edmonton, AB, T6G 0V9).
