Olive Mary McIntosh, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at the Grande Prairie Care Centre, at the age of 94 years.
Olive was born on July 15, 1928, in Sexsmith, AB, to Rose and Walter Spry. She was raised with her sisters Violet and Edith, and brothers Walter and Jack on the family farm. She met Dennis McIntosh when they both boarded at the high school dormitory in Grande Prairie. They married on November 30, 1949, and carried on their family farming traditions in Grovedale, AB, before moving to the farm northeast of Grande Prairie.
Olive took great pride in her home, with her legendary baking, tending her very large garden and flower beds, endless knitting, helping with the chickens, cows, horses, and other farm duties. Her grandchildren learned many skills by helping Grandma.
She will be sadly missed by her husband of 72 years Dennis; daughter Sherida Rossol; sons Bob (Donna) and Ron (Irene) McIntosh; daughter Barbara (Emery) Paquin; son Russell (Brenda) McIntosh; grandchildren: Blake Rossol, Debra Langford, Linton McIntosh (Jamie), Devin McIntosh (Heather), Adina Mierau (Mike), Bryce McIntosh, Jeremy Paquin (Chantelle), Corey Paquin, Dennis McIntosh (Tracy), and Trevor Pelland (Casey); as well as darling great-grandchildren: Austin McIntosh, Addaline McIntosh, Hattie Mierau, Merrick Mierau, Walter Paquin, and Willa Paquin.
She was predeceased by all her siblings; son in-law Ken Rossol; as well as grandson Danny McIntosh.
A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at 11:00am, at St. Paul’s United Church in Grande Prairie (10206 100 Ave.). Luncheon to follow at the Golden Age Centre (10222 101 Ave.).
