It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Laura Mitchell on Tuesday, January 17, 2019, at the age of 97 years.
Laura was the fifth of six children of Louis and Annie Beisel. She was born in Winterburn, AB, on September 28, 1921. In 1928, the family moved to the district of Albright, where Laura, Clifford, Alice and Muriel attended the North Beaverlodge School. Later on, Laura attended PRBI (Peace River Bible Institute).
In 1955, Laura married William Mitchell of Dimsdale, AB. Their residences included Albright, Grande Prairie, Winfield, BC, and Kelowna, BC.
Laura was always active, loved the outdoors, had a good sense of humor, loved to volunteer at her Church and summer camp. She was an excellent seamstress who could be found knitting, crocheting, and doing all types of handwork while her eye sight allowed.
A devout Christian, Laura looked forward to the day she would go to heaven and be with Bill once again and her Savior Jesus Christ.
Laura will be sadly missed by her daughter Ruth (Stan), son Rod (Karen), grandsons Joel and Eric, as well as extended family, friends and everyone that had the opportunity to spend any time with her.
She was predeceased by her husband Bill; sisters Mildred, Alice, and Muriel; brothers Clifford and Art; and parents Louis and Annie.
Thank you to all who cared for her at Aurora Court and Pioneer Lodge where she spent her last 13 years. She so enjoyed her home there and made many friends along the way.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 9:30am, at Oliver’s Funeral Home in Grande Prairie (10005 107 Ave.).
