September 6, 1967 – April 27, 2020
Kal was born in Hythe, Alberta, and passed away suddenly at the age of 52 years old. Kal attended Valhalla Elementary School, continuing on to graduate from Beaverlodge Regional High School in 1985. He graduated from Lethbridge University with a degree in Commerce, which combined with his work experience with Triple S Tire in Hythe/Beaverlodge, lead him to a career as owner/operator of Fountain Tire in Grande Prairie.
Kal married his soul mate Linda Jones from Hythe on July 18, 1998, and together they raised their 2 sons Ty and Ethan. Kal loved his family and friends dearly. Kal’s sense of humor and laughter would fill a room, and his kindness to everyone he met will always be held dear to all of those whose lives he touched. He enjoyed fishing, baseball and travelling, especially when there was fishing or baseball included in the travel plans.
Kal is survived by his wife and soul mate Linda Giebelhaus, sons Ty and Ethan, sister Denise (Hugh) Graw, sister Trudy (Darcy) Russell, mother-in-law Roxy (Neil) Jones, sister-in-law Jennifer (Travis) Jassman, nephews Parker, Korbyn and Rylee, nieces Alicia, Chloe, Olivia and Emily as well as many extended family and friends.
Kal was predeceased by his mother Evelyn Anna Giebelhaus; father Leo Giebelhaus, niece Mychel Rycroft, and nephew Kory Rycroft.
The time has come where we have a planned a time to be together to laugh and cry and share our many, many memories of Kal. A celebration of his life will be held at the Valhalla Cemetery (west of Valhalla Centre – Range Road 101 and AB-59) on Saturday September 25th, 2021 at 2pm. Being together is important because we are all stronger together.
