August 24, 1926 – February 1, 2024

 Oswald Meier Throness passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024 at age 97.

 It is with sadness but also gratitude for a life well lived that we say goodbye to a dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Oswald/Ozzie/Ost is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Marjorie Ruth as well as children Dale (Linda), Karen (Darrell), Lynn (Carman) and Elaine, 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren plus 2 buns in the oven, brothers Lloyd (Hazel) and Dean and countless other relatives and dear friends. Oswald was predeceased by son-in-law Raymond and great-grandson Dalton.

Oswald was born in Niobe near Buffalo Lakes, between La Glace and Sexsmith, to father, Bjarne Throness and mother, Olava (nee Forberg). He was the 5th of 9 children, his brothers and sisters, Olive, Mary, Hazel, Chester, Harold, Myrtle, Lloyd and Dean.

Oswald was a farmer most of his life. Even near the end, he always wanted an update on the crops from his nephew, especially how harvest was going. He also kept very busy with a life of volunteerism, most notably with over 50 years of service to the Gideons and to Peace River Bible Institute.

Next to his Heavenly Father, relationships were always the most important thing to Oswald. His pride in his family always shone through and he always made each of us feel very special.

A funeral service will be held for Oswald at Christian Fellowship Assembly on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 2:00pm. A private family viewing will be held at 6:30pm on Friday, February 23, 2024, followed by a public viewing at 7:00pm.
