April 23, 1948 – October 11, 2020
Paul Battig passed away peacefully at Prairie Lakes Hospice at the age of 72.
Paul was born in Winterthur, Switzerland. At the age of 6, he came to Canada with his Mother, and his sister Lillian. They originally landed in Ontario, joining Paul’s grandparents before venturing west. Paul spent most of his childhood in the Peace Country, farmed in Debolt from 1973-1982, and for the remainder of his life, Grande Prairie became his home.
Paul had an aggressive cancer that he faced with grace. He accepted his condition and maintained an optimistic view of life until he passed. His favorite sayings were “I still have learning to do” and “I’m still smiling.” Paul’s door was always unlocked, and all were welcome in his home.
Paul was predeceased by his mother Simone Meyer on June 17, 2015.
Paul is survived by Arlie Battig, the mother of their nine children. Paul’s children and their families are; Travis, Curtis, Marcus (Jennifer and granddaughters Cadynce and Breanna), Dennis (Kirsten and grandchildren Bryce, Jane, Bailey and Taylor), Dallas, Jonnas (Tanya and grandsons Rylan, Caius and Cole), Heidi (Paul and grandsons Ethan and Morgan), Holly (Glen and grandchildren Hope, Garry and Abigail) and Haley. Paul is also survived by his siblings Lillian (Norman), Susan (Brian) and Lisa (Elmer) as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
