It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Randy Wold on July 27, 2022 at the Fairview Hospital at the age of 70.
Randy was born in Peace River, AB on March 10, 1952, to his parents Norman and Irene Wold. After a little moving around, the family finally settled in La Glace, AB the fall of 1956. Only a mile away from where Norman grew up. Randy attended La Glace School and then later, Sexsmith High school. He worked hard and attained his Red Seal Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic at NAIT. Randy then worked alongside his father and brother operating NB Wold & Sons which was truly a family affair. However, being away from home soon took its toll and Randy took a job closer to home operating a nearby gas plant. When he moved on and started up Maximum Supplies in La Glace, he became the hub for supplying parts and supplies to oilfield facilities in the area and a busy little carwash for the community. His brilliance surfaced when he started Cobalt Rentals Inc. where he developed and patented his own mud tanks for drilling. After a successful sale of Cobalt, he continued to work in energy services and equipment rentals within the oilfield industry. This eventually led to his retirement job working as a ground disturbance auditor.
Randy was a devoted husband, lovingly patient father, and proud grandfather. He loved to be the first one to hold the new additions of the family and was somewhat of a baby whisperer. He was the gentlest of souls who loved to laugh and gathering with his family. He was good with his hands, had incredible patience and loved to bond over any teachable moments whenever possible. He was the one to go to if you needed advice or just a fresh perspective. He loved to find innovative ways of solving challenges or problems, especially if it involved operating any type of equipment. Randy loved working in his garden, hunting expeditions to the cabin, family campfires, and adventures in his jeep. He raised an eyebrow whenever a stray pet was brought home, but soon would develop a unique relationship with each one. In June 2011 he met Debra and they soon became inseparable. He loved escaping to their Creston retreat, and this is where they were married August 25, 2021.
He will be missed by so many including his wife Debra, children Jamie (Marty), Kristina (Brent), Sarina (Sheldon), Lars (Danielle), Olav (Chantale), Chris, Andrew (Deanna), loving grandchildren and, of course, his brothers, sisters, and extended family.
Randy was predeceased by his parents, Norman and Irene Wold, Cousin Kelly Wold and brothers in law Bert Delaney and Rod Neufeld.
Rest now Randy, knowing that your incredible fight to stay here as long as you could did not go unnoticed. We love you.
A celebration of life held on August 25th at 3:00 pm at the Sexsmith Civic Center 99 Avenue Sexsmith AB
