Geoffrey Brian Scheck, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Wednesday, December 31, 2020, in Edmonton, AB, at the age of 42 years.
Geoff was born in Prince George, BC, on July 22, 1978. Geoff married Karie Hunter on May 7, 2005. He started working at Lee’s Sheet Metal in 1996 and later acquired his Journeyman ticket. Geoff finished his employment at Lee’s Sheet Metal in 2004 and started Accu-Fab in 2005. He managed Fab Tech in 2018.
Geoff was the best dad, brother, and uncle you could ask for. He was a loving husband and son, who was a hard worker, honest, loyal, and a great friend with the biggest heart imaginable. Geoff loved hockey, golfing, trail riding in his side by side and being with family and friends.
Geoff played rep hockey from Atom to Midget, and in his final seasons, he played for the Dragon Palace AAA knights, where they won the league championship in back-to-back seasons. Geoff continued on with GP Athletics and then industrial league with Accu-Fab Kings, and most recently with Hitch-Em. He coached in the earlier years of Luke’s Hockey in the GPMHA System and continued to coach spring hockey, Jr. Storm up until this season.
He will be missed by so many, including his wife Karie Scheck; children Luke Scheck (14) and Jordin Scheck (12); parents Joan and Brian; brother Matt (Trisha); nephews Alex and Calvin; nieces Kali and Kennedy; in-laws Bob and Diane Hunter; brother in-law Neil (Tara) Hunter; uncle Doug and cousin Connor Norris and many aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers and friends. Geoff will also be missed by his close friends: Mike Gillis, Richard Gummer, Cameron Davies, Brad Mates, Kelly Tarnow, Sean Gillis, Lanny James, Dennis Warren, Chad Friesen, Kevin Hansen, Alain Kennedy, Chris Heinz, Cam Sandboe, Ryan Wheeler and all his hockey friends and everyone at the GPGCC.
Geoffrey was predeceased by his Grandparents, Mandy and Scotty Pomeroy, Lucy and Manny Scheck; uncle Bob; Aunt Marie Ryder; Cousins Tim Pomeroy and Robert Genier.
Geoff had a couple of favourite saying’s, “Keep your stick on the ice” and “Saddle up”.
Memorial donations may be made to Luke and Jordin’s college fund, which can be donated via an account at ATB.
Due to COVID-19, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
A private service will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021, at 3:00pm.
