Steven passed away unexpectedly Oct 28th at his home in Grande Prairie at the age of 30.
Steven was born in Edmonton Alberta on May 18th and lived there for 3 years and then relocated to Colinton AB with his parents and brother. Steven would remain in Athabasca till he was 26. He then moved his own family to Grande Prairie.
Steven will always be remembered for his smile, his laugh and for the big heart he had. Steven was an admirable hard working family man who provided well for his family. He loved his children so much and never stopped trying and believing that he would have his family back together. His children always came first, and he kept striving to become a better man, so they never went without.
Steven leaves behind so many unanswered questions and it’s been very hard on everyone. We have been finding solace in your messages of condolences, and it’s touching our hearts.
Steven had a love for fast trucks, cranking his bass, Pokemon, Deadpool, Venom and had a huge crush on Megan Fox. Steven loved making breakfast for his family especially eggs benedict and was always making his famous crab dip, artichokes, or ham for the holidays. He loved dressing up with his kids for Halloween and making sure Christmas was always perfect for them. He loved taking his family camping.
Steven had so many friends and valued all of them. He had long friendships and always held those sacred in his heart. He had numerous best friends and those that influenced him in becoming the best version for his children and for himself. He had an amazing group of people in his life that loved him so much and tried to be mentors to help him in his relationship, and how to manage life. This made his mother so happy and blessed that there were always people looking out for him and trying to guide him right.
Steven was predeceased by his Great Grandfather, and Great Grandmother on his mother’s side, and a great uncle. On his father’s side he was predeceased by his Grandmother.
Steven leaves behind his mother (Joanne Peckham), Father (Frank Ells), Stepfather (Allen Peckham) and his older brother (Andrew Ells).
Steven leaves behind 4 beautiful children that he co-raised and provided for, during the last 10 years. Joshua (2) Alyssa (6) Aiva (8), and Alexxis (14). He also leaves behind their mother (his former common law wife) Lindsey Crocker, and his best friend Kryst Barth who has been his confidant for 17 years. He loved them all so much. He was beyond devoted to them.
Steven also leaves behind numerous cousins, step siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and dear and close friends.

I’m Free
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free.
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I found that place at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I’ve savored much.
Good friends, good times,
a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all to brief.
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share it with me…
God wanted me now,
He set me free.
