With shock and disbelief, we announce the passing of Todd Zahorodniuk, 57 years old on Friday April 22, 2022. He passed away at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, AB, due to complications after surgery. Bailey, Mathew and Michelle were by Todd’s side when he received his wings and moved on to run the best pub heaven will ever see.
Todd was born August 14, 1964, in Dawson Creek BC. The family moved to Penticton where he did his schooling and excelled in many sports. He moved to Calgary after graduation and attended SAIT where he ultimately found his passion for the hospitality industry.
In 1991, he moved to Grande Prairie and started working at the Crown and Anchor and settled into his lifelong dream of owning his own pub in 1999 – The Lions Den – and the rest is history.
He is survived by the love of his life and soulmate, Michelle Walton, his children Bailey (Alton) of Kamloops BC and Mathew of Grande Prairie AB, Courtney and Emma of Grande Prairie AB, his parents John and Myrna of Osoyoos BC, his brother Patrick (Ellen) of Calgary AB and his sister Sandra Haugland (Ken Lyon) of Grande Prairie AB. His nieces Mandy Stuart (Curtis) of Grande Prairie AB and Robyn Wall (Brad) of Edmonton AB. His great niece, Laikyn Stuart and soon to be Baby Wall. He will also be lovingly remembered by his Lions Den Pub family, which includes the staff and many great regulars that will dearly miss their friend.
Celebration of life will be on Friday, April 29, at 5:00pm at the Bonnett’s Energy Centre.
