It is with unbearable sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ty Delbert Layne Wright on January 23, 2021. Ty was the eldest of five children. He was born on January 20th, 1991 in North Battleford Saskatchewan. His early years were spent in Lloydminster and Saskatoon before moving with his family to Grande Prairie, Alberta in 2005.
As a child Ty loved watching hockey with his Papa and was brainwashed into cheering for the Toronto Maple Leaf’s. He had the drive and talent for sport; building athleticism and sportsmanship in hockey, lacrosse, snowboarding and skateboarding. He was the ultimate teammate and lived to make others laugh especially in the locker room.
Ty was a pursuer of fun and although he had a wild side, he was a true mama’s boy and valued his family above all else. He enjoyed watching his brother compete in motocross or his sisters playing volleyball and never hesitated to support the important people in his life. He was sensitive, engaging, funny and bright. He had a wonderful ability to connect with others. We will miss his humor, impersonations and ability to quote a movie to bring on a laugh.
Ty’s personality was as grand as the adventures he often pursued. Recently, Ty took a leap of faith and moved to Whistler, BC to pursue the opportunity to enjoy his passion of the outdoors. His last few months were spent on the slopes of the Rocky Mountains.
Ty is survived by a large and loving family – Parents Tracy and Jason Selzler, Father Darryl Dyck (Shauna), Siblings Kyle Wright (Stephanie), Meghanne Wright (Ryland), Emma Selzler, Samantha Selzler, best friend Hannah and close family friend Lisee Lisoway and her family. He also leaves behind Grandparents Nana Vickie McGill, Iris Dyck, Al and Gail Selzler, Nancy Ward and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Ty is Pre-deceased by his Papa Geoff Wright and Grandpa Gord Dyck.
Due to Covid restrictions, a formal service has been postponed. We will come together as family and friends when restrictions are lifted to celebrate Ty’s life.
