Sloan Watters, long-time resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away Tuesday, September 20th, 2022, at the age of 75 years.
Born and raised in Porcupine, Ontario, Sloan got his start working in the mines, before heading out west to Vancouver and then to Kamloops. Sloan finally settled down in Grande Prairie, where he resided for a happy 42 years. A machinist and millwright by trade, Sloan also spent some time teaching trades in the Arctic.
Despite his mechanical background, Sloan also had a passion for arts and creativity. He had an amazing natural talent for drawing and would often spend his free time doodling and sketching miniature scenes on scraps of paper. He could also often be found with his camera in-hand, photography being another of Sloan’s natural talents. He also loved to travel and spent many hours exploring the Peace Country on his Harley.
An informal time to honour and remember Sloan will be held Thursday, September 29th from 3:00 to 6:00PM at the Grande Prairie Legion.
This is a come and go event and there will be no formal program. Snacks and coffee will be provided.
