Power out to thousands of Grande Prairie customers

UPDATE: ATCO is now estimating it will be 9 pm when power is restored to an area in and near the north end of Grande Prairie. 4100 customers are still affected. Defective equipment has been identified as the cause

Over 57 hundred customers are currently without power in the city’s North end thanks to two separate power outages.

ATCO Electric reports that just over 41-hundred customers in the Northeast corner of the city have been without power since 11:18 am. They are expecting a 1:30 pm restoration of power there.

Another almost 16 hundred customers in the city’s northwest corner have also been without power since 11:52 am. ATCO expects their service to be restored by 2 pm.

Meanwhile, a handful of customers in the Lions Park area are without power since 11:44 am. Service should be back up and running to them by 2 pm.
